Course Title: Vera Smart Home Fundamentals Training

Session date: 4th December 2020.

Training starts at 10.00am and ends about 5.00pm. Please come 15 minutes before start to allow preps.

Course location: The session will be held in Digital Home Systems office at 3/143 Main Street, Greensborough VIC.

Course Summary: This full day, “hands-on” training is for installers who would like to understand the basics of Z-Wave technology. It will include setting up, configuring and operating Z-Wave smart home system, based on a Vera gateway and various Z-Wave devices.

Training Certificates: A training certificate will be provided after successfully passing the final test at the end of the training. 

Course Duration:  1 day = 7 hours from 10am to 5pm including lunch break.

Course Content:

1. Z-Wave technology fundamentals
2. Setting up Vera gateway (network connecting, opening an account, downloading apps, etc.)
3. Configuring Vera gateway (localisation, backups, users, switching to WiFi, notifications, etc.)
4. Adding Z-Wave devices and IP cameras (e.g. sensor, lock, thermostat, switch/dimmer, etc.)
5. Creating scenes – automation scripts
6. Setting up notifications
7. Introduction to 3^rd party integration: Plug-ins, Voice Control, Bosh Security panels, Audio Video
8. Final test and certifications

What to bring with you:

1. Please bring your own laptop with power adapter – this is to allow you to participate in the “hands-on” part of the workshop sessions. Please install the latest Chrome browser and Flash Player.
2. Please bring your smartphone (iPhone or Android) or tablet (iPad or Android) – this is to use the Vera user app during the workshop exercises. Please download Vera App on your smartphone/tablet.

Prerequisites:

1. We recommend reading on Z-Wave technology: “Z-Wave Essentials” book by Dr Christian Paetz
